DHS Officer Convicted of Illegal Computer Use
By Allan Holmes  |  Friday, July 27, 2007 |  11:51 AM

A Customs and Border Protection officer with the Department of Homeland Security was convicted yesterday for unauthorized use of a government computer, Newsday.com reports.

Kelly Bossinger was convicted "on a three-count indictment charging her with unauthorized use of a government computer, lying and conspiring to lie," according to the article.

In 2004, Bossinger had asked other offices to use government computers to find out why Bossinger's sister had been stopped and searched at the U.S.-Canadian border. Bossinger was concerned that her sister was under investigation. She was.

So, why is the newsday.com article removed? The link is broken. Now we can't check on the facts ourselves? I'll go another route.

I see that the owner of this blog only post comments that are in favor of what the article reads. If you knew this case, Ms. Bossinger was not convicted of anything to do with accessing her sisters plate or asking officers to do anything for her. Both officers involved stated that she did not ask them to do anything for her. They did it on their own free will. The whole article is incorrect. And her sister was not under investigation as this article incorrectly states. Please get the facts of the case before you post inaccuracies. Thank you.

The article is the only info you have on this case. What you don't hear or see is the over zealous IA agent who went on theories alone. A jealous cheating co-worker who had it out for her own sister-in-law. And an unfair justice system. Does the punishment remotely fit the crime??? I think not...two felonies for an ALLEGED lie. A lie that was created by IA feeding info to the others involved. What you didn't see was a prosecution team of 10 or more people...spending tax payers dollars on something that should have been handled internally. There's smugglers out there that the US Attorneys office don't prosecute but then take on crap like this. OH PLEASE B. Upright and Joe Customs (I see you're so secure in your statement that you couldn't even post your real names) open your eyes to the truth....This was bull created by IA. You ruin a persons life with this because she was innocent when the others took plea deals cuz they knew they were wrong. Think about it....an alleged lie = two felonies....seems a little extreme.

Those of us who know what really happened!  | Wednesday, August 15, 2007 |  12:27 PM

To the idiots who posted comments before me, at least be honest enough to use your real name. Oh wait, you were probably taught by IA, or are IA!

If you knew what you were talking about, you would be dangerous. This news article is completely inaccurrate as to the charges and facts surrounding the case.

You are gullable and believe everything you read LOL. Sad very sad! The worst part is the two of you wanna be's are probably guarding our freedom and borders!

It is reassuring to know that at least occasionally an instance of abuse of office is exposed.

It's obvious Ms. Bossinger is not an honor graduate of the repetitive mandatory computer security awareness courses.
