TECHNOLOGY AND THE BUSINESS OF GOVERNMENT

We'll be bringing you more news on this story later on Monday, but we wanted to make sure that those of you not on GovLoop saw it here first: The social media site aimed at Feds will become part of GovDelivery, which specializes in "government to citizen communications solutions."

I've spoken with Steve Ressler, founder of GovLoop, several times at Gov 2.0 events and plan to do so again today to learn more about the merger. But for now I'd like to congratulate him on seeing his pet project turn into his full-time occupation. It just goes to show that in the age of the Internet it doesn't take a lot of money or resources to start doing something positive in the government community. All it takes is a good idea and the willingness to make it work.
